Ashley Elenio

Ashley Elenio is a consumer protection attorney with more than a decade of legal experience. She helps people dealing with credit report errors, background check mistakes, identity theft, and other problems that can affect their finances, housing, employment, and everyday lives.

Before joining the Mistake.com team, Ashley worked as a litigation attorney handling a wide range of real estate matters, including foreclosures, residential and commercial landlord-tenant disputes, contract disputes, bankruptcy matters, plenary actions, and small claims cases. She has regularly appeared before the New York City Civil Courts and New York State Supreme Court.

Ashley earned both a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Adelphi University. She later earned her J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and worked as a law clerk while pursuing her degrees.

Today, Ashley’s practice includes credit report errors, bankruptcy reporting errors, mixed credit files, deceased reporting, background check errors, identity theft recovery, EFTA and FCBA violations, and debt collection harassment. Her work relies heavily on consumer protections established under federal laws such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

Ashley is licensed to practice in New York and is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA).
