Austin Griffin

Austin Griffin is a consumer protection attorney based in Jacksonville, Florida, with more than a decade of litigation experience. His practice includes helping consumers dealing with credit report errors, background check and tenant screening mistakes, debt collection problems, and other violations of their consumer rights.

Austin has extensive experience litigating cases under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and related state laws. His background also includes employment discrimination, personal injury, and class action litigation, including work in the National Insulin Pricing MDL.

Tenant screening is a particular area of Austin’s consumer protection work. He has given continuing legal education presentations to legal aid organizations and tenant unions on FCRA and FDCPA claims involving tenant screening. He has also been interviewed by local Florida and national news organizations about his consumer protection work.

Austin earned his B.A. in Medieval Literature from the University of Florida before receiving his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. His professional recognition includes the 2024 William A. Van Nortwick Jr. Pro Bono Service Award from Florida’s Fourth Judicial Circuit.

Today, Austin’s practice includes credit report errors, bankruptcy reporting errors, mixed credit files, deceased reporting, background check errors, identity theft recovery, EFTA and FCBA violations, and debt collection harassment. He is an active member of the Florida chapter of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA).

Outside of work, Austin enjoys gardening, food, photography, and travel, as well as spending time with his wife Alyssa, their son Rhys, and their two Australian Shepherds, Lottie and Dash.
