Garret Symington

Garret Symington is a consumer protection attorney who helps people take on credit reporting errors, background check mistakes, identity theft, debt collection problems, and other consumer rights issues. He was drawn to consumer protection because it gives individuals a way to hold large companies accountable when unfair practices or mistakes cause real harm.

Originally from North Dakota, Garret earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from North Dakota State University. While completing his undergraduate studies, he also worked as a shift lead at Taco Bell, an experience he credits, along with his education, with helping shape his work ethic and approach to working with people.

Garret earned his J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. During law school, he gained experience across several areas of law, including criminal defense, municipal law, and employment law, before finding his focus in consumer protection.

Today, Garret’s practice includes credit report errors, bankruptcy reporting errors, mixed credit files, deceased reporting, background check errors, identity theft recovery, EFTA and FCBA violations, and debt collection harassment. He is admitted to practice in Arizona and Pennsylvania, as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.

Garret is also a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates. Outside of his legal work, he enjoys flag football, running, hiking, trivia nights, and spending time with his wife.
