Michael Yancey III

Michael Yancey III is a consumer protection attorney with extensive experience in legal writing, litigation, and trial preparation. His practice focuses on helping consumers address credit reporting errors, background check mistakes, identity theft, debt collection problems, and other issues that can affect their finances and opportunities.

Michael began his legal career as a paralegal in South Florida, where he helped defend homeowners facing foreclosure. While attending law school, he worked as a law clerk handling bankruptcy and consumer protection matters, gaining substantial experience drafting legal arguments and assisting with litigation in state, federal, and appellate courts.

After becoming an attorney, Michael continued litigating civil cases involving consumer protection, civil rights, and personal injury. He has authored numerous legal briefs addressing significant issues at both the trial and appellate levels, appeared in state and federal court, and helped prepare multiple federal jury trials, including serving as co-counsel in one.

Michael graduated cum laude from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2021. He was a Willard H. Pedrick Scholar, received the Honorable Redfield T. and Susan H. Baum Scholarship, served on the Moot Court Executive Board, and earned a Certificate in Law, Science, and Technology. He also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for his work in electronic discovery.

Today, Michael continues to represent consumers across the country, with particular strengths in complex legal writing and trial advocacy. His practice includes credit report errors, bankruptcy reporting errors, mixed credit files, deceased reporting, background check errors, identity theft recovery, EFTA and FCBA violations, and debt collection harassment. He is licensed in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, and Texas and is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
