Paul Bernard

Paul Bernard has been an appellate litigator since 1996, representing clients across a wide range of legal matters. His practice includes consumer protection cases involving credit report errors, background check mistakes, identity theft, and other issues that can affect consumers’ everyday lives.

Paul earned his A.B. from Brown University, a Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan, and his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as Executive Article Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Before entering private practice, he clerked for the Hon. Richard D. Cudahy of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and taught at the University of Washington, Bothell.

Paul has handled significant appellate matters throughout his career, including writing the successful petition for certiorari and winning merits brief in Carabell v. United States Army Corps of Engineers, 547 U.S. 715 (2006). He has also successfully handled appeals involving federal civil rights and other legal issues.

Today, Paul’s practice includes credit and background report errors, mixed credit files, deceased reporting, identity theft recovery, EFTA and FCBA violations, and debt collection harassment. He is also a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
