Susan Rotkis

Susan Rotkis, known as Susy, is a consumer protection attorney with extensive experience representing people in cases involving inaccurate credit reporting, debt collection, lending discrimination, and other consumer rights issues. Her practice focuses heavily on the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Since 2010, Susy has exclusively represented consumers in individual and class action cases against financial institutions, consumer reporting agencies, employers, debt collectors, and other companies. She has represented consumers in more than 500 cases, including multidistrict litigation, and has tried both individual and class actions in state and federal courts.

Before focusing her career on consumer protection, Susy spent more than seven years as a judicial law clerk. She clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael S. MacDonald in the Western District of Texas and U.S. Magistrate Judge Dennis W. Dohnal in the Eastern District of Virginia.

Susy earned her undergraduate degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. She is admitted to practice before numerous federal courts, including the Fourth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.

In addition to representing consumers, Susy frequently speaks at consumer protection conferences and continuing legal education programs, including programs hosted by the National Consumer Law Center. Her practice includes credit reporting errors, bankruptcy reporting errors, mixed credit files, deceased reporting, background check errors, identity theft recovery, EFTA and FCBA violations, and debt collection harassment.
