Thomas Martin

G. Thomas Martin, III, known as Tom, is a consumer protection attorney who has spent the past 17 years helping people stand up to credit reporting agencies, debt collectors, financial institutions, and other companies when their consumer rights are violated. His experience includes both individual cases and class actions involving a wide range of federal and state consumer protection laws.

Tom has spent more than a decade handling consumer protection matters nationwide through a practice he co-founded in California. During that time, the firm obtained nine class action settlements in California, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Tennessee, including a $4.1 million settlement following a contested class certification proceeding.

Throughout his career, Tom has represented hundreds of consumers in federal court and has extensive experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), and other consumer protection laws.

Tom earned his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He is admitted to practice in California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and multiple federal district courts.

Tom has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer in Consumer Law every year from 2015 through 2026. He is also a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and the Los Angeles County Bar Association and has completed training as a mediator through the Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Services program.
